We are heartbroken to share that our beloved sister, Pauline Sosa, 76, of San Antonio TX, joined our Heavenly Father on 7 February 2026, after a difficult battle with Parkinson's. She was surrounded at her passing by her loving partner, brothers, nephews and family friends.
A woman of quiet grace and impeccable style, she was a dedicated educator and school counselor who spent her life advocating for others with a signature beautiful smile and a compassionate heart.
Pauline was born in Riverside, California and grew up in Laredo, Texas. After graduating from Martin High School, she attended Our Lady of the Lake University where she received a Bachelors degree in Education and a Masters degree in School Counseling.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Guadalupe Sosa and her brother, Julio C. Sosa. She is survived by her loving partner, Veronica Castillo; her brothers, Dr. Jose I. Sosa and Francisco (Alicia), and nephews Julio (Maggie), Rolando (Vanessa), Ricardo (Zenaida), and numerous grand nephews and nieces, and cousins.
A lifelong educator, she dedicated her career to the students of the San Antonio Independent School District where she served as a beloved school counselor until her retirement. Although she never married, she was a mother at heart to the thousands of children who passed through her office. She didn't just offer guidance; she offered unconditional love, treating every student as if they were her own.
Pauline was a fierce social justice advocate committed to building a world that was as kind as she was. She was a woman of deep conviction and a "true believer" in justice for all people. Her compassion was matched only by her consideration for others, always standing up for the marginalized and advocating for a fairer world.
Beyond her professional life, she was the epitome of style. A truly fashionable lady, she had a legendary love for "glamour and bling." Whether she was out on a shopping spree for the latest trends or lighting up a room with her signature sparkle, she lived life with an elegance that was uniquely hers. When she wasn't at the mall or the school, she was at home surrounded by her beloved cats who were undoubtedly the best-dressed felines in the neighborhood.
She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, sharp wit, and impeccable taste. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her devotion, elegance, humor and the joyful memories she created for all who knew her.
Our family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at Cardinal Hospice for their loving care and support. We're also forever thankful to caregiver Maria Elena and Veronica for ensuring Pauline's final days were comfortable and filled with dignity.
A celebration of Pauline's life -and her impeccable style - will be announced at a later date. In honor of her vibrant spirit, guests are encouraged to wear something that sparkles.
