May 14, 1948 – March 3, 2025
Peggy Ann Coleman, age 76, passed away on March 3, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on May 14, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky, to John Raymond Linker and Mary Patricia Bullen Linker.
Peggy met the love of her life, Russ, in El Segundo in 1964. They married five years later and in 1972, welcomed their greatest joy—their son, Jason. As their family grew, she cherished her role as a grandmother to Evan Coleman and his wife Madison, Elise Coleman, Carsyn Carter, and Bailey Carter, along with Jason's wife, Melanie Coleman. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her love and laughter into every moment with them.
Peggy had a warmth that could light up any room and a quick wit that brought joy to everyone around her. She had a unique gift for finding the best in any situation, facing life with humor and an unshakable spirit. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1970, Peggy refused to let the disease define her. She lived life on her own terms, doing whatever it took to embrace every experience and adventure. She and Russ lived a full and vibrant life together, moving first to Germany, and then to several different duty stations around the U.S. during Russ’s nearly 24 years in the Air Force.
Peggy had a deep love for music and could often be found singing out loud to her favorite songs, sharing those moments with Russ and Jason. She was also a passionate cook, finding joy in preparing meals that brought family and friends together. She enjoyed making Hamburger Stroganoff often and she and Russ prepared a Chicken En Cocotte dish for nearly every Thanksgiving meal during their 55 years of marriage. Her love for the beach and warm weather never faded, and when she and Russ settled in San Antonio, they found comfort in the familiar feel of their beloved El Segundo. The two became regulars at many of the area’s local German and other restaurants, savoring the food and the company around them.
Peggy gave her heart and time to the Catholic Church, family game nights, and the simple joys of being surrounded by those she loved. Her legacy is one of strength, devotion, and an unwavering spirit—she taught those around her to fight for the people and things they love, just as she did throughout her life.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been created through the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to honor Peggy’s life and support advancements in MS research. Donations may be made in her memory at: Peggy Coleman Memorial Fund.
