

Peggy was born in Minneapolis, MN to Ruby and Nolan Watson on November 11th 1952. The daughter of a Lutheran pastor, Peggy continually bloomed in every new place she was planted. She grew up in a variety of small towns and cities in Washington, Minnesota, and Illinois with her Mother, Father, and younger sister Jane. Peggy attended Illinois State University and received a Masters degree in Education. She married Joe Gonzales on April 22nd, 1978 in San Jose, California where she had her two children. She relocated with her family to San Antonio, Texas where she worked as an Elementary School teacher for the San Antonio ISD for many years. Most recently, Peggy retired after 15 years of employment with Education Service Center Region 20 Life Science Department. Over her lifetime Peggy volunteered with many organizations. She especially focused on those that fostered Christian teaching to youth. Peggy was an avid music lover, especially choral music, and a gifted pianist. Peggy reveled in making a joyful noise whether it was with an instrument or with her signature Alto harmonies.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Nolan Watson.
Peggy is survived by her spouse Joe Gonzales. Her son, Aaron Gonzales and
his spouse Erin Oliver. Her daughter Ruby Polanco and spouse Roland Polanco. Daughter Lisa White and spouse Greg Davis and daughter Donna Flacon. Along with her sister Jane Hartmann and spouse Bill Hartmann. In addition Peggy was blessed with a large extended family and received so much joy when surrounded by grandchildren, cherished brother in-laws, sister in-laws, and loving nieces and nephews.
Peggy was a people person who truly cared about building and fostering relationships. Everyone who interacted with Peggy had their world brightened by being around her. She communicated kindly, encouraging and would inspire all to seek God for guidance through prayer and scripture. Peggy was loved by all and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
The memorial service honoring Peggy's life will take place at Sunset
Memorial Park & Funeral Home on Saturday October 24, 2026. Family and friend visitation is available between 10:30 am - 12:30 pm. Funeral service will follow at 12:30 pm led by Pastor Dave Schneider of Cross of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. A light reception will follow the service generously provided by the Cross of Christ Women's Group.
