Peggy Irwin

Our loving Peggy was born Peggy Lou Reich in Wewoka, Oklahoma, on August 11, 1945, to Albert and Mary Reich, both of whom preceded her in passing. She was also preceded by her brother Tommy, a Vietnam veteran. Anyone who knew Peggy soon understood that Christ Jesus was the focal point of her very being.

Peggy held a master’s degree in theology from Vision International University and was a compassionate pastor and counselor. She was also an accomplished artist and oil painter, with one of her paintings receiving worldwide distribution twice. She freely allowed credible ministries to use her work for the promotion of the Gospel.

Peggy loved to worship, sing, teach, counsel, and serve others. She and her husband, Chuck, ministered throughout their community and for the Kingdom. She especially loved Tuesday night soaking gatherings, and Aglow held a special place in her heart. Whether through preaching, Bible studies, counseling, or simply opening her home, Peggy offered hope, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to countless people. She knew no stranger and considered many of those she ministered to her spiritual sons and daughters.

Peggy loved gatherings, holidays, and opening her home to others. Even during difficult seasons with her health, her home remained a safe haven. She wanted people to know they were loved and that they belonged. To Peggy, family extended far beyond blood.

Peggy was a fighter and a friend. Those who walked alongside her during her six-year battle with cancer witnessed the strength, tenacity, and unwavering faith that came from her very core. She spoke truth, loved deeply, laughed often, and was always ready with a word of encouragement. That same care was evident in her insurance business, where she worked diligently to find the best solutions for her clients.

She also had an unmistakable sense of style and color and loved to dress. Her joy, strength, faith, compassion, and love were all part of what made Peggy uniquely Peggy.

Those left to carry on her legacy include her beloved husband, Chuck, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage. Those who knew them could easily see that they were truly the loves of each other’s lives.

She also leaves her two sons, Billy McCoy (Bekki) of Granbury, Texas, and Bobby McCoy of

New Braunfels, Texas—whom she called “the two best sons in the world”—and her sister, Judy Hillhouse of Wewoka, Oklahoma. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with many spiritual sons and daughters, extended family members, and friends whose lives were forever touched by her faith and love.

Peggy poured herself into people, opened her heart and home to others, stood steadfast through adversity, and remained faithful to the Lord she loved and served.

That was Peggy Irwin’s legacy.
