

Peggy ONeill Williams, 85, of Canyon Lake, TX died Saturday, April 23, 2022. She was born to the late Russell and Margaret ONeill on October 4, 1936, in Houston, TX. Peggy graduated from Lamar High School in 1954 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Rice University in 1958. She married Thomas E. Williams the day after graduation and together they lived in Virginia and Texas while Tom finished his medical education. After being a full-time mom for their three children, Peggy went on to attend the University of Texas HSC-SA with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1977. From 1977 to 1979 she was a neonatal flight nurse at Santa Rosa Medical Center in San Antonio. In 1979, Tom and Peggy moved to Chapel Hill, NC where she went on to complete her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at the UNC-CH campus and worked as a public health nurse for Orange County. In 1985, Tom and Peggy moved back to San Antonio and eventually retired to Canyon Lake. While in San Antonio, Peggy was a nursing instructor for the Baptist Health System and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. Peggy completed her nursing career as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) until her retirement.
Peggy was an avid reader and enjoyed a life of learning. She loved painting, gardening, and traveling. She was a member of the Episcopal faith and a member of Christ Our King Anglican Church in New Braunfels, TX. She was a loving grandmother to her five granddaughters and enjoyed hosting "Camp Grandma" in the summers and taking them to Disney World.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Tom. She is also survived by her three children: Tommy (Janet) Williams of Leander, TX; Beth (Jeff) Henson of Austin TX; and Dave (Melissa) Williams of Canyon Lake, TX. She is also survived by her five granddaughters: Amanda (Kurt), Adrianne (Chris), Emily, Mary, and Hannah. She never knew her precious great-grandson, Skyler, as Alzheimers Disease robbed her of her beautiful mind later in life.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 12th from 7-9 pm at the Porter Loring Mortuary, 2102 N. Loop 1604, San Antonio, TX. Services will be held the next day from 1-3 pm at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX.
The family would like to thank her doctor, Dr. Mitchell Finnie and the staff at Harbor Hospice, especially her nurse Jessica Stickles, who provided loving care at the end of her life.
