Perry Edward Akins, age 80, passed away August 4, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on August 26, 1930 in Cordova, Alabama to Henry and Claudine Akins. He is survived by his wife, Betty Akins; sons, Chris Edward Akins, Randy D. Akins; stepdaughter, Patty Boyers and husband Johnny; stepson, Johnny Coker and wife Debi; grandchildren, Jenny Owen and husband Chris, Chris Edward Akins Jr. and wife Lori, Andrea Akins, Katherine Akins, Nathan Akins, Brett Boyers and Chloe Coker; great-grandson, Conner David Edward Akins and Cooper Becket Akins; brother, John Akins. A funeral sevice will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 8, 2011 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road San Antonio, Texas 78238 Officiating will be Pastor Jack Stevens. Interment will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Perry to the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or the Alzheimers Association.

I barely remember Perry because I was so young when you lived next door, but I grew up hearing all the stories about Brian, Kevin, Chris and Randy. You have my heartfelt sympathy. I'm sure Perry and my Dad, Emil, are playing cards up there somewhere.
