Pete was born in San Antonio to Ernestina Flores and Pedro Lopez on September 5, 1965. He completed high school and pursued a finance and banking degree in Killeen, Texas. Pete married Joyce Whidden on March 8, 1990 in San Antonio. They welcomed daughter Brianna Lopez in 1990 and daughter Emalie Lopez in 1993. Pete had a lifelong career in sales, most recently with Perry Homes as a new home sales consultant. He was an active member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and served on many retreats including: ACTS and Ministry of The Third Cross. Pete became an especially proud Pop in 2011 to his first grandson Trystan Lopez-Rodriguez. After 13 years, that title was renewed when welcoming grandson Howel Lopez-Quick in 2024 and June Jones in 2025.
Pete is preceded in death by step-father George Anguiano, and father Pedro Lopez.
Pete Lopez is survived by wife Joyce Lopez, daughter Brianna Lopez with partner David Quick and daughter Emalie Lopez with husband David Jones. His mother Ernestina Anguiano, grandchildren Trystan Lopez-Rodriguez, Howel Quick, and June Jones, and siblings Paul Lopez with wife Brittany Lopez, Georgina Anguiano, and Noel Anguiano with wife Christina Anguiano.
Pallbearers will be Paul Lopez, Noel Anguiano, Trystan Lopez-Rodriguez, Ian Anguiano, David Jones, and David Quick.
The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to Hummingbird Hospice for their compassionate care, Deacon Leo for his blessings, Father Joe and Deacon Robert for performing his last rites, and family and friends for their support.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238, on November 12, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with Rosary starting at 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 7893 Grissom Rd, San Antonio, TX 78251, on November 13, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A Committal Service will follow at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian, 11624 Culebra Rd, San Antonio, TX 78253, on November 13, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
