Peter Richard Seghi passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family September 19, 2022. Pete is survived by his wife, Carolyn, children Christine Seghi and Jeff Seghi (Anne), his grandsons Mitch Lurtz and Tyson Seghi, his sister Bonnie Balla, and nieces and nephews Dan Balla (Laurie), Nicole Walkowiak (Craig), nephews Ryan and Mitchell Walkowiak and Andrew Sobucki (CaraBeth), and “adopted” daughter Amy Willy (husband Bryon and sons Adam and Grant).
Pete was born October 17, 1946 to Helen and Richard Seghi in Chicago, Illinois. He married Carolyn Zielinski August 31, 1968. The family spent the majority of their lives in Northwest Indiana, where Pete was a well-respected hospital administrator. Upon his retirement, he and Carolyn relocated to San Antonio, Texas.
Pete was an amazing husband and father. He had a wonderful sense of humor and brought a smile to all who came into contact with him. He was a hard worker professionally and personally, a life skill which he made sure to instill into his children. He was a devout Catholic, an avid golfer, a dedicated do-it-yourselfer, enjoyed history documentaries, and attempting (usually in vain) to beat his wife at Jeopardy as they watched it each night together on television. Pete loved old cars and telling stories of racing them in his youth. He could also play a mean polka on the accordion. Most of all, and it wasn’t even close, Pete adored spending time with his family. He loved them fiercely and set an example of what a real man should be in every way. Pete will be missed by many and remembered as one of the truly great ones. Rest in Peace, Daddy.
Services for Peter are currently pending and will be conducted near Chicago in the next couple months, more info to follow.
