Phil was a devout catholic and attended Mass regularly at the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the Oblate School of Theology. Phil served in various civic organizations including The Jaycees, Chambers of Commerce, and Rotary Club. He enjoyed serving as team member in several ACTS Retreats at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and held a Board Member position at Seton Home. Phil was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, having fished the waters of Matagorda Bay, and was a voracious reader, especially of Philosophy. He enjoyed a game of poker from time to time and did not mind sharing free advice to anyone who would listen. Phil was fortunate enough to have been given time to see his two grandchildren (Lauren and Elliot) grow up. He was genuinely interested in their schoolwork often asking questions about courses and projects. He took great pleasure in attending every Grandparents Day event, academic achievement ceremonies, recitals, and sports events. He was so thankful to have been present at their Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Oblate Madonna Residence, 5722 Blanco Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78216.
