Philip W. Taylor, died August 22, 2014. He exited this world for his permanent home just four days before his 85th birthday.
Phil was born on August 26, 1929, in Detroit Michigan, to Ressie Weir Taylor and Margaret Stark Taylor and was the eldest of their three surviving children. His older sister Gwendolyn preceded him in death during their early childhood.
He was a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers' minor league team in 1950 and took great satisfaction in their winning the division championship that year. Phil continued his education by becoming an electrical engineer following his discharge from the Navy and then went in to business with his father, Ressie and brother, Bruce. He provided oversight to the businesses' engineering programs. The resulting business provided jobs for hundreds of people in Michigan and Central Texas until his retirement in 1981.
He married the love of his life and "number one girl", Doris Elaine Lee, on October 25, 1952 and they enjoyed a 62 year love affair thru marriage until his recent passing.
Following retirement, Phil enjoyed his passion for golf, sailing, and traveling in his RV with Doris. He was and is the deeply cherished father of daughter Laurie Slider, son Richard Taylor, and daughter Shari Taylor.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents Ressie and Margaret Taylor, his sister Gwendolyn Taylor, his brother Bruce Taylor, his sister Nancy Vaughn-Coberly, and countless friends.
