With love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Phillip Wilson Sr., a man of faith, kindness, and a cheerful spirit whose warmth and friendship touched so many lives.
Phillip was born on August 9, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Radford Smith Wilson, Jr., and Essel Wilson (née Schaefer). He grew up alongside his younger brother, Radford III, affectionately known as “Butch.” Phillip developed a deep love for Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on October 4, 1958. His faith remained a guiding force throughout his life, shaping his values and sustaining him through life's challenges.
Phillip was a principled, easygoing man with a kind heart and an infectious joy for life. Affectionately known as Phil, he was the life of the party, a natural storyteller who loved good conversation and making others smile. His favorite saying, “For a man of my age, I’m doing okay,” perfectly captured his cheerful outlook. Everyone loved Phil, and his laughter and warmth will be dearly missed.
An animal lover at heart, Phillip had a special affection for dogs and horses. Known as “the original dog whisperer,” in the family, he shared a remarkable connection with animals. Even in his final days, he fondly remembered the many dogs and his beloved horse that had brought him happiness throughout his life.
Family was especially dear to Phillip. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Audrey Wilson; his son, Phillip Wilson Jr.; his daughter, Pamela Wilson; and his stepchildren, Andrea McLean, Cecile Bell, Sean Longsworth, Nigel Longsworth, and Carol Longsworth, along with extended family and countless friends whose lives he touched.
Phillip found strength and comfort in Jehovah’s promises, particularly the hope of a resurrection. Revelation 21:4 reminds us of the beautiful future when death, sorrow, and pain will be no more. Though his absence is deeply felt, we find peace knowing his suffering has ended and look forward to the wonderful hope of welcoming him again.
Phillip leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, laughter, and cherished memories. His joyful spirit and the kindness he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
His life will always be part of our story.
His memory will always have a place in our hearts.
