Phyllis Louise Albeck went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Phyllis was born in Pontiac, IL to the late George and Hettie Mann. She graduated from Pontiac High School in 1951 and married her devoted husband of 64 years, Stan Albeck, two years later. After a stint at Fort Ord Army Base in Monterey, California, the couple moved to Peoria, IL., so that Stan could obtain his degree from Bradley University. Coaching took the family on 18 different moves around the U.S. Phyllis always had a great attitude about moving and in 1980 when the job moved them to San Antonio, they decided to make Texas their forever home and have resided in San Antonio for the past 37 years. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Stan Albeck, sons; Gary, Jon, and Roger Albeck; Daughters; Sheree Jones and Julie Brouillette, Granddaughters; Jessica Jones, Stuart and Reagan Albeck, Lesley and Paige Brouillette, Great Grandchild; Holland Ingber; sister, Erma Kennedy of Pontiac, IL., and brother, John Mann of Visalia CA.
Phyllis Albeck was a very special person. She was as giving as she was beautiful. She sacrificed greatly for her family, taking care of five children while her husband was on the road coaching. She selflessly cared for Stan after he suffered a stroke in 2001. Even with this awesome responsibility, she managed to live life to the fullest. She took her first international trip in the early 1980s and never looked back. She traveled to 39 countries, with some of her favorite places being the Canary Islands and Italy. Phyllis was always up for a trip and took full advantage of the airline flight benefits available to her after retiring from American Airlines.
Through Stan, she became a lover of basketball and his "assistant coach." Many nights, she would listen to him as he gave play-by-play commentary on the game as it replayed in his mind, always supportive and never second-guessing his ability.
Her smile and laugh lit up the room wherever she was. All who had the privilege of knowing her will miss her.
