RC is survived by his wife of 20 Years, Maria Del Carmen; son, RC (Jenny) Hernandez Jr., son, Mark (Rocio) Hernandez; son, Michael (Rachel) Hernandez; stepdaughter Diahann (Michael) Derrick; stepson, Joel (Tiffany) Laird; stepson Jon (Holly) Laird; grandchildren, Jace Anthony, Karalee Marie, Cayden Nicolas, & Alerik Jacobi Hernandez, as well as many loving extended family members.
RC loved cooking, entertaining, bartending, and rooting for his beloved Chicago “Da’ Bears”! Over his lifespan, he served in the United States Air Force, was employed in the oil industry, banking and finance business, among many other jobs. A lifelong learner, RC earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work and devoted the latter part of his career to counseling those in need. He was a man with a sharp mind and even sharper wit, who often loved bantering, playing cards (and sometimes partying) with his sons.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm followed by a rosary from 7 – 8pm at Sunset Funeral Home Northwest on Bandera Rd on Thursday, May 10, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am at Sunset Funeral Home Northwest as well, on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 8:30 am. Following the service RC will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:15am at Shelter II.
