Ramon Contreras, Jr was born March 3, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas. He was a proud father of two children Yvette Contreras and Ramon Contreras, III and a grandfather to four grandchildren Rohyn Schofield, Irys Schofield, Elia Contreras and Ramon Contreras, IV. He was also a devoted husband for 12 years to Helen Zigmond.
Ramon grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Fox Tech High School. In 1967 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served as a Marine in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star with Combat V. After serving in Vietnam he returned to Camp Pendleton as a Drill Instructor. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. After the Marine Corps, he returned to San Antonio and started his career with City Public Service (CPS). He retired from CPS as a Computer Supervisor after 30 years of service. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing and travelling.
Ramon passed away peacefully at home on October 26, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father Ramon Contreras, Sr., his mother Celerina P. Morin, and his Dad Joe Q. Morin, and his brothers Jose Angel, Guadalupe Contreras. He is survived by two sisters Maria Ochoa (Janie), and Sally Rocha, and one brother Joe Morin, Jr., brothers-in-law Gilbert Ochoa, and Rudy Rocha as well as many nephews and nieces.
A service will be held on 23rd of November at Ft Sam Houston for immediate family members only. In lieu of flowers please make charitable donations to Semper Fi & America’s Fund or to your favorite charity.
