Having served in the 8th Army during the Korean War, he is a distinguished veteran. In his early years, he spent time in Gary, IN working in the steel mills. For the majority of his work life he served as an aircraft mechanic at Kelly AFB. All of these experiences formed and demonstrated his unfailing work ethic. All of his children lament the fact that he never let them off from school for no reason.
Ramon met and married the love of his life, Zulema, in December 1956. Although known to be a man of few words, he often tore up a dance floor. He bestowed upon his children a rich heritage of his musical taste including Hank Williams Sr., Charlie Pride and Buck Owens and the Buckaroos.
A good father and an even better grandfather, he had no greater joy in life than to care for his grandchildren. Many family photos capture Grandpa with the kids at local parks, mini trains and other excursions. Always the contrarian, he chose early on to root for the Washington Redskins and never stopped.
Our beloved Husband, Dad and Grandpa passed away on May 10th with family surrounding him. He will be forever remembered and celebrated.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Zulema; children: Ramon Jr. (Jeannette); Norma (Rodney); Michael; and Sandra (Carlos) and grandchildren Renata, Jacob, Miranda and Leigh Anna, along with several grand dogs.
