A graduate of Ector High School, Ramon built a steady and accomplished career, retiring early from SBC after 30 years in management. Even in retirement, his work ethic and drive remained evident as he continued on as an independent contractor.
Ramon embraced life with a lively mind and an easy warmth that drew people in. He loved reading, political debate, sports, movies, Tejano music, and dancing, and he was a longtime fan of the Permian Panthers. He enjoyed the camaraderie of group activities—bowling leagues, softball teams, pool leagues, and dart leagues—where his natural gift for conversation made strangers feel like friends. Those friendships endured, and he remained especially close to longtime friends and coworkers from his years at SBC.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, and the effortless way he could make people laugh. Blessed with a remarkable long-term memory, Ramon could recall dates, places, events, and stories from years past with striking detail, keeping family history and shared moments vividly alive.
Some of the most cherished traditions in his family centered on simple joys made meaningful through his presence. He loved going to the movies—first with his children, and later with his grandchildren, continuing those outings with them into adulthood. He also held a special love for San Antonio Fiesta, bringing his family long before they moved to San Antonio in 1986 and establishing a tradition that became part of their family’s story.
Weekends often carried the familiar comfort of Tejano music and a big brunch made for everyone to share. Ramon loved grilling and smoking meats to welcome friends and family, and during the holidays he proudly carried on his mother’s tradition of making the family’s holiday dressing—something he genuinely enjoyed preparing and offering as an expression of love.
A Celebration of Ramon's Life will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary - West, 1710 West Loop 1604 North, San Antonio, TX 78251, on October 1, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Above all, Ramon will be remembered for the laughter, friendships, traditions, and experiences he shared so generously. In the everyday moments—watching a movie, listening to music, sharing a meal, or telling a joke—he created memories that will remain a lasting comfort to all who loved him.
