Ramona Wolfe Galvan

Ramona Wolfe Galvan, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. Ramona was born in San Antonio to parents, Antonio Wolfe & Zapoppa Garcia Wolfe. She was one of 15 children. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Avelardo Galvan; and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Abel Galvan, Jr. (Janie), Irma Hale (Paul), Rosalinda Martinez, Gracie Sullivan; grandchildren, Michael Hernandez (Amber), Jeremy Hale, Priscilla Martinez, Roger Martinez, Brianna Garcia (Nathan), and Bobby Sullivan; great-grandchildren, David and Evie Hernandez, Slade Fredrick Hale, Saidy and Renezmee Hinojosa, Destiny Martinez and Ilyanna Garcia.; sister, Guadalupe Ramirez (Sam); brothers, Pedro Wolfe, Conrad Wolfe (Rose). She was called Grandma Honey by many nieces and nephews.

Ramona was a beautiful soul, spunky, and full of spirit. She was known by most as “Honey.” She was a great cook and seamstress, loved to bake cheese bread and cinnamon rolls, but what she was known best for was her delicious and famous banana bread. Honey loved to share her bread with family and friends, but only shared her famous recipe with a precious few.

She always lent a helping hand whether with babysitting, cooking, or giving great advice. She loved to spend time with her sister, Cecilia, and go to estate sales. Boy did they love those estate sales!Honey taught us to be strong, love life, work hard, enjoy a good margarita now and again, and to love and to cherish our friends and precious families as we travel through life.

Rest in peace our beautiful, wonderful “Honey.” “Honey Bunny,” “Mona,” “Wolfa,” we will always miss you, but we know you are with Abel and all our big family who preceded you. They have been waiting for you for a while and happily welcomed you home with open arms.

Honey you were a blessing in our lives and we will always remember you and love you.

A sincere thank you to the nurses, LVN’s, and CNA’s at Opus Care hospice for their care, comfort, and commitment toward all her needs. A big, special thank you to Rosa Rodriguez and Eddie and Jessica Rodriguez at Renaissance House for the great care they gave to Honey. They treated her with much love, compassion, and respect. Also, thank you to Honey’s “little buddy,” Evelyn Rodriguez, for keeping Honey on her toes and always making her smile.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Opus Care hospice or to the Renaissance House.

An extra, special thank you to the following ladies-Gracie Sullivan, Kathy Flores, Irma Hale, April Cato, Michelle Abonce and Lupe Ramirez. These ladies were there for Honey through thick and thin. Whether through a knee operation, a pacemaker, a lengthy hospital stay or just a visit. They were always there at her side to feed her, comfort her, share a laugh, a joke or give a big hug! The time you shared with her was priceless and Honey appreciated it. Thank you so much!

May our dear Lord continue to bless you ladies and bring you comfort and peace in knowing that Honey finally got her wish. He welcomed her to her heavenly home.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary.

A reception will follow our time at the cemetery at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church - 4415 S. Flores St.
