Randall Lee Cassford was born on May 19, 1948 in Niagara Falls, NY and passed away peacefully at his home in San Antonio, TX after a battle with cancer on November 8, 2018 at the age of 70. He was a 1966 graduate from Carson High School, studied forestry at Glendale Community College, and worked as an aircraft mechanic for Valero for many years. He loved being with his family, friends, riding Harleys and if you wanted to know about any tidbit fact, there was no one better than “Randy” and he will be dearly missed.
Sergeant Cassford was a US Army Noncommisioned Officer with 3 years of service in which he received the following awards: Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Bars and M-14 Sharpshooter. As a helicopter mechanic he was vital to the combat mission in Vietnam. Without his maintenance expertise, more lives could have been lost. He maintained this equipment which was able to bring U.S. soldiers that were injured out from enemy fire, and extract soldiers from enemy territory.
Mr. Cassford is survived by his son Tony Joe Cassford, and his daughter Chéri Lee Cassford. He also leaves behind three grandchildren Shandi Goodloe, Levi Cassford and Hunter Klinkman as well as two great-grandaughters Emeri and Kahlia Goodloe, his sister Melonu Dahl, nephew Chad Swartout and niece Rhonda Swartout- Olney.
