Raul F. Martinez

Raul F. Martinez, age 91, passed away January 6, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on June 28, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas to Carlos and Anita Faz Martinez. Raul proudly served in the U.S. Navy on a battleship near the end of World War II. Upon return to civilian life he married Alicia Rios and started a family a year into their marriage. He then began a career installing sheet metal roofs where he toiled in the Texas heat for 40+ years. He was a lifelong sports fan, especially pulling for the Spurs and Dallas Cowboys. He was blessed to get to attend Super Bowl 27, when the Cowboys dismantled the Buffalo Bills. He is survived by his children, Sandra Martinez and husband Paul Garcia, Rudolph Martinez and wife Pat Martinez, Raul G. Martinez and wife Jackie Martinez, Cynthia Garcia; grandchildren, Rudolph M. Martinez, Heather Martinez, Christina Garcia, Justin Martinez and Brandon Martinez; great-granddaughter, Lyla Elizabeth Martinez. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera road, San Antonio, Texas 78238 on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. The funeral procession will depart the funeral at 9:30 A.M. Friday, January 10, 2020 for a 10:00 A.M. mass at the San Fernando Cathedral, 115 Main Plaza with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery # 3.
