Raymond Camardella Jr., age 75, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully just after midnight on November 11, 2025. Born on November 8, 1950, at Oakland Naval Air Hospital, he carried the quiet strength of a father, husband, grandfather, and friend through every chapter of his life.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington and brought sharp intelligence, strategic insight, and unwavering determination to everything he pursued. Whether solving complex problems or offering unforgettable advice, he was a man of precision, humor, and heart. Good luck beating him at pool—most tried, few succeeded.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the 1970s as a submariner aboard the USS Thomas Jefferson (SSBN-618), where he was part of what he fondly called “the last of the Blue run.”
He raised his eldest daughter with strength, wisdom, and unwavering guidance, becoming not only her father but her lifelong idol. Their bond was filled with laughter, insight, and quiet understanding. His sharp wit and strategic mind left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Later in life, he found the great love of his life in Jane, his wife and soulmate. With her, he shared a second chapter full of joy, companionship, and deep connection. Jane brought out the very best in him—his humor, his light, and his smile. He embraced her children, Shannon and Derrick, with profound love, care, and respect, forming a family bound not by blood, but by heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Martha Jane Camardella; his infant son, Raymond Camardella III, and his sisters Jeanne and Lorraine.
He is survived by his daughter, Charity L. Woods; his stepchildren, Shannon Kalk and Derrick Kalk; his sister, Rita Galutera; four grandchildren; and one and a half great-grandchildren.
He is now at peace, reunited with his cherished wife Jane and beloved son, Baby Raymond—where his heart has long belonged.
