

Ray Fuller of Cibolo, TX, born Feb. 14, 1924 in DeValls Bluff, Ark., died April 4, 2010, in New Braunfels, TX. The consummate salesman, Ray represented several lines of building materials in the San Antonio area. His charismatic personality served him well in the Masonic orders. He was a 50+year member of Alzafar Shrine and was potentate in 1991. He was president of the Shrine Patrol Association of North America, 1997; president of the Texas Shrine Patrol Association, 1984; president of the Alzafar Arab Patrol, 1967 and captain in 1983, when the patrol won a national championship.
He was raised in Anchor Lodge 424 on July 14, 1955, and was a member of Charles Anderson Lodge, #1413 A.F. & A.M. He was a member of Scottish Rite and York Rite.
He served in the Navy from 1943-1946, was released from active duty as a Petty Officer, 2nd class. He was a member of VFW Post 8541. During his service, he met Margaret Fredericka Riddle, and they married on May 6, 1946. She preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 1991. Ray and Dorothy Gary later renewed a friendship, the relationship grew and they married March 16, 1998.
A voracious fan of the University of Arkansas, he decorated his yard with a life-sized wood Razorback during UT games. He and Peggy traveled to many Shrine gatherings a year. The "world's best grandparents" often were joined by granddaughter April. Ray loved to joke and tease. April's friends remember his good-natured razzing and consider him their granddad, too.
He also was preceded in death by his brother James, mother Una Mayfield and stepfather Olin.
Survivors include wife Dorothy; son, Ray Fuller Jr. and wife Carole; granddaughter April Peterson and husband Eric; great-grandchildren Hunter Arcuri and Erin Peterson; his brother Charles and wife Jean; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, Dorothy's daughter Deana Faucett and husband Ben, their daughters Stephanie and Carrie; her son Spencer Drake and wife Kathy, their children and grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Ray Fuller Jr., Charles Fuller, Eric Peterson, Hunter Arcuri, Ben Faucett, Spencer Drake, John Dunn and Ed Martinez. Honorary pallbearers are the Alzafar Shrine Past Potentates and the Alzafar Arab Patrol members, active and past.
Visitation 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 7 and funeral 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Porter Loring Funeral Home North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
