Raymond Edward Neumann, son of Raymond Joseph and Evelyn Smalley Neumann, exited his earthly life and moved on to his eternal reward on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Born in 1944, Ray was a life-long San Antonian. He grew up in Alamo Heights, graduating from Alamo Heights High School and attending St. Mary’s University where he was a member of Rho Beta fraternity.
Ray was the consummate salesman. His first career was in the institutional food business and his second in the advertising specialty arena. He could sell anything to anybody.
However, his true calling was being a good, Christian man. Ray’s faith was paramount in his life. A cradle-Catholic, he delighted in working with Catholic organizations and causes. He was a proud member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, the Knights of St. Gregory, the Order of the Alhambra and the Constantinian Order of St. George. Ray’s true passion was the Knights of Columbus, of which he was a 56+ year member, having served in capacities from council member to Texas State Deputy (state president). He was in his element when Texas hosted the Supreme Knights of Columbus Convention, and he could showcase the best Texas had to offer to Knights from around the globe.
Weekends from September to December found Ray in hunting mode. Fishing along the Texas coast or a South Texas hunt was his idea of a perfect weekend, especially if accompanied by his son, son-in-law and grandsons. And, as an active member of the San Antonio Executive Club, Ray was always in attendance at the annual Wild Game Dinner and weekly meetings.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Roxanne Neumann Huff. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon; his son and daughter-in-law, Reese and Allison Neumann; his daughter and son-in-law, Reagan and Ray Karlowicz; and his grandsons, Anderson, Everett, and Silas Neumann.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026, with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, TX.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks Dr., San Antonio, TX. Reception to follow. A Graveside Service will then take place at 2:00 p.m. in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Padua Place or the Texas State Council Knights of Columbus charities, both groups near and dear to Ray.
