

He grew up in nearby Pleasanton, Texas in Atascosa County and joined the United States Navy, eventually serving in the 3rd Marine Division during World War II. Leonard fought on Guam and Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds sustained during the battle of Iwo Jima.
Upon discharge and returning to Texas he met and married Elizabeth Pagel Pugh, who preceded him in death in 2006. Mr. Pugh had a distinguished civilian service career with the United States Air Force at Kelly AFB in San Antonio Texas.
Leonard is survived by his three children; Sharon, John, and Betsy. Two sons in law, Tom and Maurice; six grandchildren, Susan, John, Sarah Beth, Rebecca, Kyle, and Alexander and two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Riley Rose.
Visitation and rosary will be held Tuesday, December 4th at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1314 Fair Avenue, at 6:00 PM.
The funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 5th also at Saint Margaret Mary at 9:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to either Saint Jude Children's Hospital or Saint PJ's Children's Home.
