

Raymond Allen Wilson unexpectedly passed away on January 2nd, 2026, at the age of 77. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and son-in-law who will be remembered for his jovial nature and ability to befriend & “Talk Story” with everyone he met.
Ray was born in the Territory of Hawaii on December 7th, 1948, to Jesse Clyde Wilson Sr. and Margaret Puninani (Agos) Wilson. He was the third child of five between them. Their blended family totaled nine children. He attended Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic School in East Honolulu, Hawaii and Graduated from Kalani High School in 1968.
He enlisted in the US Navy and following bootcamp he received training in Basic Electronics and was selected for Radiomen school. Ray served in the Radio Shack aboard the USS Point Defiance (LSD-31) in the Pacific Theater for the duration of his service during the Vietnam War Campaign.
Ray lived in Sunland-Tujunga, California after his Honorable Discharge from the Navy and attended Glendale Community College. While working in a restaurant he met Cindy Shawn Adams. They were married at St. James the Less Catholic Church in La Crescenta, California on August 28, 1976. Ray was embraced by Cindy’s Italian family. He loved his in-laws and Cindy’s family like they were his own. Ray and Cindy settled in Monrovia, California where they raised their two children, Scott and Nicole.
Following the Navy, he was a member of the IBEW Electrical Union in Southern California. Ray was a mechanic and in customer service & sales in the boating industry. Then he was in sales & rentals in sporting goods equipment with Sport Chalet in La Canada, California. He briefly worked for Copy Mat in Los Angeles, California but returned to management across Los Angeles and Orange County in the tire and automotive industry with Winston Tires, Big O Tires and finally AutoZone.
Ray loved sports cars, specifically his yellow 1969 TR6 Triumph convertible. He had a passion for motorcycles; riding a TR6 Triumph motorcycle and a Norton motorcycle. He was a member of the Chosen Few motorcycle club while a bachelor. He loved collecting and building model cars, he collected “HotWheels” cars, rare coins and stamps. He loved singing, cooking & baking. He loved all sports – especially the Los Angeles Rams Football team, LA Raiders Football team, Dodgers and Angels baseball games and the Olympics. He enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, and camping. He was a troop leader for his son’s Webelo pack, #140 in Monrovia, California and an assistant troop leader for his daughter’s Brownie Girl Scout troop, # 810 in Monrovia, California. He loved history stories, the old west, cowboys and rangers. He recalled dancing and taking Hula lessons as a child with his siblings growing up. He was very proud of his Hawaiian Heritage and loved sharing that part of his culture.
Ray loved to travel and experience new places. He and Cindy went all over the US visiting their family and friends. Wherever their children moved they would go to visit them. In 2013 they traveled back to Hawaii to see their daughter’s family and Ray’s extended family; his first time back home to the islands in more than twenty years. Together they traveled overseas to Busan, South Korea for their son’s wedding in 2019 and took in much of the country and culture while meeting and celebrating there with family.
He was a devoted husband and father. He worked to ensure the house that he and Cindy bought was a home for his family. Ray and Cindy left California in 2021 to move closer to their grandchildren in San Antonio, Texas. Over the last four years they embraced everything in Texas. They enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren regularly. Holidays, school events and grandchildren’s field trips were treasured. Ray’s booming cheering voice at Little League Baseball and Softball games will be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy; children: Scott (Eunjung Han) Wilson of Busan, South Korea and Nicole (Ian) Hudson of Alamo Heights, Texas; grandchildren: Mahalia, Seth, Nathan and Jacob Hudson, brothers Charles Rowland Kuulani Fernandez, Hartwell Brady Wilson, Jesse Clyde Wilson Jr., Gordon Lee Wilson; sisters Helen Ululani Simutis (Peters), Marguerite Viola Puninani Indie (Wilson), as well as various additional family members including brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Monty Ronald Wilson and his sister Stephanie Adeline Keohokapulani Ah Lan Denis (Peters).
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Rosary followed by Funeral Mass will be held on February 5, 2026, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, San Antonio at 10:00am. There will be a Celebration of Life on February 5, 2026, at St. Marks the Evangelist Catholic Church, San Antonio at 2:30pm. Ray will be laid to rest with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio on Friday February 6, 2026, at 1:30pm. Those wishing to attend are requested to assemble at the cemetery welcome center at 1:00pm.
