So sorry to read of Ray's death. I have such fond memories of having coffee and cookies with Ray & Leah while Ray would crack my pecans. We so enjoyed our times together and they were wonderful friends.

I worked with Leah At Sears in Lufkin from 1973 until her retirement and there was not a sweeter lady anywhere. I still have a small red rock she brought me from visiting "Son Ray" in Chicago. We all called Ray, "Daddy Ray" just as Leah did. She spoke often of her 'Aggie'. After Ray retired from LI we took pecans for him to shell for us... and got a visit in too. Mr. & Mrs. Wolford were some of the kindest people one could find. I'm the youngest of 6 kids that moved next door to them in Lufkin. We would always visit with Mr. Wolford while he was working on his yard. His yard had the softest grass! He welcomed us to play and he and Mrs. Wolford were very tolerant to put up with our noisiness. My parents still live in the house where we grew up and we have lots of fond memories of those early years. My parents, my brothers and sister and I all send our condolences. I am saddened to learn about this dear man's passing. He and his wife Leah hold a special part of my memories. I am so glad I got to visit with both of them before Leah passed away too. Many words come to mind, but a few are their kindness, gentleness, giftedness, a peaceful twosome, who much loved each other and their family, and gave more love to all who knew them here. I sat next to them many times in church, always next to Leah, who always told me how beautiful I sang and was always smiling and by listening to my loud voice, could sing along with me on the ones she had memorized....of course, Ray agreed I sang beautifully too. I have to tell you all that I cannot sing well, but do sing loud. I was their grand-daughter's principal in elementary school, and she too was precious and so very much loved by both. They always shared what she had accomplished and I loved hearing about her....so hello to all the family and know how much your two special people touched many lives in Lufkin...I loved hearing the stories of what they had done, all the things Ray had made, all the crystal Leah loved, and how much loved all of you were...thank you for sharing these unique people with me...Love, a friend

meetings and the Credit Union Meetings.
