Rebecca Mendoza, age 67, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on December 16, 2025. Born on August 19, 1958, Rebecca spent her entire life in San Antonio, where she was known for her warmth, generosity, and love for family.
She is survived by her loving companion, James Sandoval; her daughter, Michelle Alvarez and her husband, Xavier Alvarez; her son, Jacob Mendoza; and her beloved grandchildren: Serina Salvatore, Xavier Mendoza, Jacob Mendoza Jr., Nicholas Garcia, Izabella Alvarez, Ryan Alvarez, Penelope Alvarez, Jaylin Mendoza, and Dylan Alvarez. She also leaves behind her great-grandson, Lucas Garcia, and siblings Diana Verastigui, Belinda Doherty, David Ybarra, and Rosemary Gonzales. Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Ramona Ybarra, and her sister, Sylvia Casares.
Rebecca was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed shopping, baking, and spending time with family. She had a special talent for making holidays memorable for everyone and had a sweet tooth for candy and desserts. Rebecca loved traveling, spending time at the beach, and sharing dinners with friends. She was also a proud Dallas Cowboys fan, cheering on her team with enthusiasm. Her joy for life and her ability to make every occasion special will be remembered by all who knew her.
A Memorial Visitation will be held January 8, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Porter Loring Funeral Home – West (1710 W Loop 1604 N, San Antonio, TX 78251), followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will follow January 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. John Berchman’s Catholic Church (1147 Cupples Rd, San Antonio, TX 78226). Burial will follow immediately at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi Marian (11624 Culebra Rd, San Antonio, TX 78253).
Rebecca’s joy for life and love for family will be cherished forever. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, please send plants or make donations in her name to the Cordi Marian Sisters in San Antonio by calling 210-798-8220 ext. 10.
