Reiko M. Almeter

Reiko Almeter entered into rest August 27, 2010 in San Antonio at the age of 76. She was born March 12, 1934 in Hakodare, Hokkaido, Japan to the late Ushitaro and Mine Mikami. Survivors include her husband, Terrance Almeter; son Joseph and his wife, Carla; grandchildren, Isabella and Nicklaus; sisters, Keiko, Kyoko and husband Toshio, their daughter Kazuko. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Brenda Ulrich and husband Mike, and their children, Tom, Steve, and Anne. Reiko was an accomplished seamstress and cook. Everyone loved to come over for her traditional Japanese meals. She lived for her grandchildren and loved to play with them and teach them origami. She also enjoyed taking care of her cats and dogs. She fought a brave battle against cardiovascular complications for several years. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Sunset Northwest, 6321 Bandera Road. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
