General Pixley was a mentor to me for more than 35 years. He was open, honest, ethical, and fair. Moreover, he was disciplined to the core. I cherished every moment I spent with him. And I will miss him. Rest in peace, "Pix."

I have fond memories of the close friendship and mutual respect between General Pixley and my father, Colonel Jack D. Wallace, Sr. My father, who passed away in 2000, often commented on various aspects of their personal and professional relationship over many years. Men of General Pixley's caliber are few and far between. My condolences to the entire family.

Terry & Mary, Jane & I were very saddened by the loss of your Dad. To me he has always been a mentor and a friend. Unquestionably General Pixley will rank in the history books with the finest of Surgeons General. He was a true physician and soldier who unselfishly gave his all to everything he did. It is no overstatement that his leadership, during an unparalleled time of crisis, sustained the Army Medical Department. I'll always consider myself very fortunate that I not only knew him and his family but also had the honor to work very closely with him as part of his office staff on three assignments ? not to mention the car pool rides down Rock Creek Parkway from Quarters I at Walter Reed Army Medical Center to the Pentagon each morning we took together for four years. I?ll miss you, Boss.

Dad, I will never forget the first time I met you...I was bringing in Mary's trunk from college and she said ."here is my dad" and when I turned to look the door slipped and the glass hit the corner of the trunk and shattered. Mary quickly picked up the glass and cut her hand..so by the time I was able to shake your hand I was nervouse, but instead of being upset you made me feel very comfortable....and after that always did. I was alweays so proud of your accompishments and will always remember fishing and drinking burbon and water on the rocks with you. You will be missed...with great admiration and love, thanks for the memories, Michael

My father, Col. Jack D. Wallace, who passed away Sept.1, 2000, was a great admirer and friend of Pix, as he liked to call him. They served together on several occasions. My deepest condolences on the loss of a great man.

We enjoyed knowing and spending time with Gen Pixley and Marian while we lived in Alexandria, VA. Jerry enjoyed carpooling with the Gen and they had some good fishing trips in CO.
