Rhoda Rappaport, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 98. Born November 1, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the cherished daughter of Fannie Soloff and Benjamin Garfinkel.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Lester Rappaport; and parents, Benjamin and Fannie Garfinkel.
Rhoda's greatest joy in life was her family. She is lovingly survived by her children: Howard Rappaport (Debbie), Neil Rappaport, loving daughter-in-law Lynn Rappaport. She was a devoted grandmother to Andrea Rappaport-Schmidt (Steve), Carly Liesk (David), Judson Rappaport, Chapin Rappaport, Gately Rappaport, Blanca Salyers (Kristopher), David Jamison (Sarah) and Stephanie Maguire (Sean). She was a proud great-grandmother to Julian and Oliver Amdur, Milo Leisk, Keith, Rylee, Blake Jamison, and Anna Maguire.
Rhoda was known for her strength, compassion, and the deep love she had for those around her. Her presence was a source of comfort, and her wisdom and warmth will be deeply missed.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Vickie Swafford, Lara Duenas, Ruby Lopez, Veronica Olivarez Silva, and the dedicated nurses from Harbour Hospice, Kennell Brown and Kody Davidson, whose care and support brought peace and dignity to Rhoda's final days.
Special thanks to the countless members of SAFD who came to pick her up every time she fell. “Hello fellas, wanna help an old lady up?” Thank you for your dutiful services. The ultimate Yente, Rhoda was a magnificent force of nature who will not be easily forgotten. Her memory lives on in our hearts and stories.
A Graveside Service will take place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd San Antonio, Texas 78209.
