Ms. Rhonda West Hooper, daughter of the late Winifred (USAF Ret) and Joyce West was born on June 4, 1952 in Phoenix, Arizona. Living in a military family as a young child she spent time in Thailand, Philippines and several places in the United States before settling in San Antonio, TX where she became a lifelong resident. After graduating high school and gaining experience in the workforce, she followed her interest in radio and broadcast at San Antonio College before moving into a vast career in business administration.
Rhonda departed this life on October 9, 2023, from her home and stepped into her eternal Home of Glory. She loved her Lord and Savior and valued her faith spending time in prayer, worship and serving in church. Her heart and devotion for teaching was expressed through various bible studies, women’s groups, singles ministries and children’s classes. She always found solace, strength and direction in studying the Bible while fulfilling her vocation unto God. Her selfless spirit was shared through her generous giving and volunteering of time to various church outreaches and needs within the community. Rhonda would not hesitate to give her last dollar and always believed it was a blessing to sow into the needs of others.
Mom’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She always had time to play games and make arts and crafts with her grandchildren. Mom was an avid reader, baker of breads, jams and sweet treats, along with having a skilled hand for sewing and crocheting. She was full of life and enjoyed a good laugh, entertaining friends and truly believed in making the best of every day no matter what life threw her way.
Rhonda’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her two devoted sons, Joshua (Patricia) West and Jerod (Lori) West; her treasured grandchildren, Josiah, Aedan and Alaina; her beloved great granddaughter, Elliah; her brother, James West; her sisters, Linda (Gary) Stuart, Mary Outhouse, Licia Columbus and Heather (Mark) White; alongside many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to invite all loved ones and friends to a viewing and time of remembrance scheduled for 6-8pm on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Porter Loring Mortuary West, located at 1710 W. Loop 1604 N, San Antonio, TX 78251.
