Richard was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Throughout his 89 years of life, he was blessed with a loving family and many cherished memories. He enjoyed the simple things in life, especially fishing, watching Western movies, and listening to country music. Above all, Richard treasured the time spent surrounded by those he loved.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alicia Quintanilla; his sons, Martin Quintanilla, Michael Quintanilla and wife Cindy, and Javier Quintanilla and wife Beatrice; his daughters, Terry Arellano and husband Jesse, and Lisa Metaxas and husband John; his sister, Amparo Gonzalez; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Rosa Quintanilla; his brothers, Pedro Quintanilla and Ramon Quintanilla; his sister, Graciela Quintanilla; and his grandson, Dario Escalante Jr.
Richard will be remembered for the life he lived, the love he shared with his family, and the many memories he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237, on October 14, 2026, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. A Rosary and Chapel Service will follow at 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.
A Processional will depart from the funeral home for A Committal Service with Military Honors that will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, on October 14, 2026, from 1:45 pm to 2:00 pm.
