The son of the late Francis (Canan) and Roy Boivin.
Rick was married to Kathy (Todd) on August 12,1989 at St. Vital Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They shared 30 loving years together. “He’s the love of my life,” was Kathy’s favorite statement when talking of Rick.
Rick was board certified in the hearing industry since 1974. He enjoyed helping people improve their hearing with hearing aids so they could more fully participate in life. His patients appreciated their increased quality of life. In addition, Rick loved his work as a trainer to others in the field to be the best in helping others hear the world around them. Kathy, his wife, was a recipient of this excellent training and continues the passion Rick shared.
His life could be characterized as being filled with passion. He loved to travel and experience new places, but his favorite passion was motorcycle riding with Kathy. He zoomed along on parkways around the lakes in Minneapolis, MN before moving to San Antonio in 2004. The Hill Country then became his new preferred scenic roadways. Although he had a variety of bike models through the years, his greatest and brightest famous smile was reserved for his Harley Davidson’s. They were his absolute favorite with a metal blue 2003 100th Anniversary Sportster being his latest baby for feeling the wind and seeing the sights.
Rick is survived by his wife Kathy (Katherine), son, Aidan Boivin; grandsons Ethan, Matthew & Tru Boivin, granddaughter Jaelyn Boivin and sister Cheryl Goldenstein (Roger).
He was preceded in death by his son Dustin Boivin, brothers Brian and Donnie Boivin and sister Doreen (Bunny) Boivin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be on Rick’s birthday, February 2nd, 2020 at the Canyon Springs Golf Club 24405 Wilderness Oak, San Antonio, TX 78260 from 1 to 3 PM.
