Commander Richard D. Chung, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in San Antonio, TX. He was born on June 5, 1944, in Honolulu, HI, to Constance Wong and William Chung. Commander Chung was a Navy Veteran, serving in Vietnam and later in the Reserves. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal. He received a BA from the University of Hawaii. Commander Chung worked as a Vice Principal and Principal in schools on the islands of Oahu, and Hawaii. He enjoyed playing cribbage, listening to music and traveling with his wife Holly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Constance and William Chung; and son, Christopher K. Chung.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Holly Chung of San Antonio, TX; children, Nicolas A. Chung, Jill Allen, and Wendy Martinez; grandchildren, Marshall Allen, Breckin Allen, Bridget Allen, Yasmine Martinez, and Victoria Martinez.
He will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
