

Richard Lee Gooley, 88, passed away on April 18, 2026. Born February 4, 1938, Richard was a longtime resident of San Antonio, Texas. His life was marked by steady devotion—to country, to work well done, and most of all to the people he loved.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ferne Gooley; his brothers, Joseph Gooley and Norman Gooley; his sisters, Sue Doyle and Kay Baker; his late spouse, Chaulay Gooley; and his daughter, Sherry Dydasco.
He is survived by his wife, Praneet; his children, Joseph Gooley, Jackie Foulkes, Becky Mattox, Rick Gooley, Robin Taylor, Renee Gooley, and Lucky Roberts; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Richard pursued some college education through the Air Force, an early step in a life defined by service and commitment. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 28 years of service, and continued serving in civil service for 33 years—an enduring record of responsibility, perseverance, and pride in contributing to something larger than himself.
Outside of work, Richard found his greatest enjoyment in the simple, lasting pleasures of home and family. He valued time spent with loved ones, and he could often be found enjoying football, basketball, and old western movies—favorites that brought him comfort, familiarity, and joy.
Richard will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his gift for telling funny stories, and the playful way he teased those closest to him. In the lives he touched, that warmth and wit will remain a steady presence—remembered with gratitude, respect, and enduring affection.
A Celebration of Richard's Life will take place at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, Texas 78232, on May 5, 2026, at 1:00 pm, with a live stream available at https://www.facebook.com/117497254977253.
