He was born in Tampa, Florida to Richard Sr. and Addie Honeycutt on April 20th, 1932. At the time of his death, he was enjoying his retirement from the United States Air Force and the UT Health Science Center.
During his Air Force career, he moved up the enlisted ranks working in supply chain and as a trainer retiring as a Tech Sargent. His favorite duty station was Hickam, AFB Hawaii.
Richard then attended college at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcus, Texas and started a second career at UT Health Science Center as a trainer. After a second retirement he found joy in providing copier supplies and troubleshooting services to a large office complex. He also trained hundreds of seniors on how to drive safely as certified driving instructor.
Richard and his wife did not have children; however, they were always welcoming large families into their home freely sharing their lives and resources with those in need. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr. and Addie Honeycutt and his wife Ella Mae Honeycutt.
He is survived by his niece and nephews, and their children many of whom considered Richard and Mae as an additional set of grandparents.
Richard was known to all as a kind, gentle man who loved teaching, food, and Jesus, which he freely shared with all.
The family of Richard wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the entire staff
of the Mission at Blue Skies of Texas and the Hospice team for their abundant kindness during the last few weeks. Also, to the staff of Waterford at Westover Hills and his Christian family that meets at Village Parkway Baptist Church, which have been a continues source of joy and support in his latter years.
