

Richard was born in Ft. Worth, Texas to Richard B. and Grace H. McElvany on March 18,1934. He married the love of his life, Rebecca Jane Courtney on October 19, 1952 in Ft. Worth, Texas and remained happily married for 72 years.
He worked in Production for KXAS-TV Station in Ft. Worth for 38 years. Simultaneously, he started raising chickens as a hobby, then turned it into a Poultry Farm that raised up to 98,000 chickens per year. This endeavor inspired him to share his incredible work ethic with his family and friends.
After he retired, he spent many years traveling in his RV with his beloved wife and their canine companions. He loved meeting new people and sharing his love of playing the guitar and singing with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and he enjoyed sharing his humorous stories with everyone. He had a passion for everything in nature. He loved fishing, snow skiing, gardening, and 4-wheeling in Colorado.
Richard is preceded in death by his son, Richard Andrew McElvany; his sister, Peggy Sue McElvany Hollis; and his parents, Richard B. and Grace H. McElvany.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Rebecca J. McElvany; daughter, Kimberly K. McElvany (Veronica) of San Antonio, TX; son, Clinton C. McElvany (Ellen) of Cape Coral, Fl.; grandchildren, Courtney Larsen (Christian), Jackson McElvany, Zachary McElvany, Andrew McElvany, and Ava McElvany; great-grandchildren, Christian and Kelsier Larsen; and many cherished extended family and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Services in San Antonio, TX. A Celebration of Life will be held March 8,2025 in North Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations (In Memory of Richard Charles McElvany) to The Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
