

Richard was born on April 5, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas, to Ricardo Rivera Muñiz and Anita Lopez Muñiz. He attended Harlandale High School before continuing his education at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. While attending the university, he was a member of the fencing team and met the love of his life, Susan Dale Brown. The two were married on December 19, 1981, in San Antonio and shared more than 44 years of marriage together.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he built a successful career as an Electronic Technician at Southwest Research Institute, where he dedicated 30 years of service.
Above all else, Richard's greatest joy was his family. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with his loved ones and created countless memories that will be cherished forever. His kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for his family will remain his lasting legacy.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Anita Lopez Muñiz and Ricardo Rivera Muñiz; his brother, Andrew Lopez Muñiz; and his sisters, Estella Muñiz Vasquez and Nancy Lopez Muñiz.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Brown Muñiz; his daughters, Leanita Brown Muñiz, Sandra Dale Muñiz, and Christina Raye Muñiz and her husband, Joshua Warmoth; his sister, Rachel Muñiz Cole; and his cherished grandson, Avery Muñiz Warmoth.
Richard will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238, on June 27, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238, on June 27, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
