During his high school years at Burbank, Richard was actively involved in FFA and worked at The Boy’s Club on Drexel St. After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, he embarked on a career in the insurance industry. Affectionately known as “Peanut,” Richard was a lifelong classic car enthusiast who enjoyed Sundays watching NASCAR races, a time when he preferred to remain undisturbed. He loved spending time with his friends, doing bodywork on cars and attending hot rod nights, where he and his buddies shared their passion for cars. He also enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. Known for his quick wit, Richard had a nickname for everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his; parents, John and Mattie; his beloved wife, Earleen Pearce; and son, John Douglas Pearce.
Richard is survived by sister, Kathleen Reicherzer; children, Cheryl Pearce (Claire Dodds), Jeannie Houston, Sherry Giachino (Mike), Mike Follette (Fiancé Paula), Charleen Criswell; grandchildren Hailey, Chase, Shelby, Ethan, Rylee, Joseph, Jade, Cole; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to his caregiver of three years, Danny Gumse and Guiding Light Hospice.
Though we say goodbye, we ask you not to mourn Richard’s passing but to celebrate his life. His humor and warmth remain with all who knew him. May his memory inspire us to live fully, love deeply, and find joy and laughter in the simple pleasures, just as he did.
The celebration of life will be held on May 2nd at 2:00 pm at Hillbillyz Of Texas, 1931 FM 473, Boerne. Attendees are encouraged to bring their hot rods/classic cars and their best memories and stories to share.
