November 15, 1946 – December 3, 2025
Richard Wayne Severance, beloved husband, father, Pop, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on December 3rd at the age of 79. Born on November 15, 1946, Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Joyce Severance, as well as his brother, Bruce Severance, and sister, Pam Severance.

He was a super proud grandfather to Bryson Severance, Kate Sanchez, Kylie Severance, Connor Sanchez, Luc D’Offay, Violet D’Offay, and Poppy D’Offay. Richard made an impact on numerous extended family members and friends whose lives he touched including his very best friend, Ronald Givens who he shared many a beers with and probably has all of his secrets. Also, Cynthia, Nicole & Jenny Nelson, Laura Hubbard, Eric Gaarz, husband to beautiful sister in law Claudia (passed 2019), Erika & John Mosher and Max Davenport, Adam, Kathryn, Abbi and Ella Bridges.
An engineering graduate of Texas A&M University, Class of 1968, Richard began his career with Conoco immediately after graduation and acquired his masters in business shortly thereafter after. His dedication, leadership, and integrity at Conoco marked a remarkable career that spanned 35 years until his retirement in 2003. After retirement, Richard continued to serve his community and passions through involvement on several boards, including Yellowstone Park.
Richard and Nancy retired in Wimberley for 15 years and had a fishing get away in Port O’Connor, TX. Richard had many cherished friends at Lakewood Yacht Club and in Ponca City, Oklahoma and treasured their summers in Vail, Colorado where they loved hosting friends and family. Richard and Nancy knew how to throw a party and were the ultimate hospitable couple.
Richard will be deeply missed and forever remembered for numerous reasons. As an engineer, he could be a quiet, strong man but those who knew him, knew that he had a big heart behind the brawn and brains.
Family will hold a small, private service. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Northern Oklahoma Humane Society in Ponca City, OK or Wimberley Adoption Group Rescue (WAG) Wimberley, TX in honor of Richard’s life and legacy.
