

Rita was a Kansas farm girl, growing up to love animals and the joys of the outdoors. After high school Rita left the comforts of home and ventured to Nebraska to attend a secretary college. Once Rita completed her studies; she went on to work for the Marines; where she soon met her husband, John J. Brown who was in the Air Force. John and Rita traveled with the military and later were blessed with two daughters, Patricia and Mary. Rita enjoyed life to the fullest and looked at every new day with joy and optimism.
She loved spending time with family and friends and keeping busy quilting or tending to her garden. She also enjoyed traveling to Vegas and to the Winstar Casino in Oklahoma. Her love for animals brought her beloved dog, Samuel Winston into her life, who lived a long and happy life with Rita before crossing the rainbow bridge in 2015. Even in passing, Samuel Winston will always be with her.
She was preceded in death by, her parents, Valentine J. Weigel and Isabel Dreiling Weigel, and loving husband, John J. Brown.
Rita is survived by daughter, Patricia Brown; daughter, Mary Carrillo and husband Mark; grandsons, Kyle and Ryan Carrillo; numerous other family members and friends. The family will receive friends starting at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
