

Rita Quintero Smoak, age 77, of San Antonio, Texas joined her lord and savior on Sunday, February 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 10, 1946 in Waelder, Texas to Gregorio Quintero and Julia Hernandez into a loving and large family.
Family was a huge part of Rita’s life and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends out in nature while fishing crabbing, sailing and gardening; especially tomatoes. Many said she was the best fisher woman, cook, and stock picker they have ever known. Rita also found great pleasure in home decorating, teaching dance, watching movies, and traveling, especially to Vegas.
Rita found great pride and enjoy during her career with Texas Instruments working in connection with the Integrated Circuit Manufacturing as an Engineering Technician. Later in life as a bone cancer survivor it was also extremely important for Rita to give back the community. She volunteered with American Cancer Society working as a volunteer cancer patient driver and felt blessed to be able to do this work.
Rita leaves behind her loving family; her husband Richard, her sister Mary, her nephews and nieces Ralph Cindy, Anthony, Richard, Amanda, Denise, Larry Jessica Gabriel, Eddie, David, Johnny,Sandra, Bobby, Delores, Michael, Sofia,Celeste,Philip, Adam, Aaron, Anthony, Julie, Faren and many cousins. Along with countless extended family and friends. Rita has now reunited with her parents Gregorio and Julia Quintero, her siblings John, Ernest, Paul, Joe, Victoria, Luis, and Sirildo. Her nephews and nieces Rudy, Joanne, Trish, Rudy, David, Alex, Beatrice, Gabriel and many extended family.
The family will be receiving guests for Rita on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas 78232, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
