Bobby lived a good life, excelling at football, baseball and eventually softball. He played for city teams and CPS Livewire team, traveling the country to national tournaments and achieving numerous awards as MVP, homerun champion and batting champion. He particularly enjoyed coaching his daughters in Little League softball, leading them to State. He dearly loved the annual family trip to Rockport and was looking forward to the 2021 trip. But, most of all he will be remembered for all the love he shared along the way. His grandson says it best…
“I’m truly at a loss for words. One of the best men that I have had the pleasure of knowing, a man who gave unconditional love to everyone he knew, even if they were not deserving, who loved one woman with everything he had, an amazing father, and the best granddad a boy could ever ask for, never missing a game, a birthday, a graduation…a man who truly lived without regret because he made sure of it.
I will miss the early morning breakfast tacos, discussing sports, the inappropriate jokes. I will miss mowing your grass and you forcing money in my pocket, rooting for me in the stands at my games, your smile, your humor, but most of all, I will miss the way you loved…your family, your friends…just life in general. You set an example for me to follow. And you were a true blessing in my life, and I thank God for putting you in it for the 26 years I’ve been around.
May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rain fall soft upon your fields. And, until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
You are deeply missed and will never be forgotten. I love you Pop!”
