

Bob Ellerbee passed away on February 6, 2019. He was born on June 8, 1944, and grew up in San Antonio. Bob graduated from Alamo Heights High School, and received football scholarships where he attended University of Texas at El Paso (Texas Western) and Trinity University. In 1966, he joined the Marine Corps and served in Viet Nam.
Upon returning from Viet Nam, he earned a bachelor's degree from Texas State University and met his wife of 50 years, Charlotte. They started a family which grew to include two daughters, Kim Piland, (husband, John) and Holly Jordan (husband Tom); two grandchildren, Nicole Jordan and R.J. Jordan, and step-grandchildren, Hayley, Bryan, and Kyle Jordan, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Physical fitness and training were always important to him, and at age 50 he began to win numerous power lifting competitions. He was not only a strong man physically, but also spiritually. Bob was a true man of faith. He was always able to see the best in everyone and his positivity was inspirational.
As a coach, teacher, and small business owner, Bob enjoyed being around people. Throughout his life, many former students and acquaintances would reach out to let him know what a powerful role model he had been in their lives. Bob continued his education by earning a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and pursued a doctorate in Educational Leadership at Texas A & M.
In addition to putting God first, he was devoted to his family, and the United States Marine Corps. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his constant companion, Chester, his boxer.
Services will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Ft Sam Houston at 1PM.
