
Robert Max Bobby Geisler died Friday, April 18, 2003 after a brief illness. He was born on June 1, 1926 in San Antonio Texas, the son of Arthur and Thekla Geisler. He served in the United States Navy, and graduated from Trinity University with a Bachelor of Music Degree and Master's Degree in Administrative Education. He had his own dance band for thirteen years, and has been principal trumpet with the San Antonio Symphony. Geisler was band director at Kenedy, South San Antonio, Burbank, Randolph and Roosevelt High Schools where his bands were consistent U.I.L. "Sweepstakes" winners, and principal at Randolph Elementary and Churchill High Schools. He was a charter member of Texas Bandmasters Association and became its president in 1962. He was elected to the American School Band Directors Association in 1961 and to the Texas Bandmasters Hall of Fame in 1992. Geisler was Educational Director of Southern Music Company, and has had published over seventy compositions for band and solo instruments. He was a Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church and The Fellowship of San Antonio. Bobby Geisler is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-two years, Ann, two sons, Robert Michael and Daniel Mark, granddaughter, Lilla Kathleen, brother, Arthur, and brother- and sister-in-law, Eugene Howard and Mary Duane Dawson.
