Robert Lewis Hockey entered eternal rest on July 4, 2017 at the age of 81. He was born in San Diego, California to Earl Lester Hockey (from Dayton, Ohio) and Mary Ellyn Cook (from Hartshorne, Oklahoma) on April 4, 1936. Bob completed two years at Hartnell College and served in the US Navy on board the USS Essex CVA9 and later the training facility in San Diego. Bob retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad Company as a civil engineer designer. He took great pride in the designing and plan check of the largest intermodal container transfer facility in Los Angeles of 1986.
His greatest accomplishment in life was marrying Dorris (Baby). Together they shared many wonderful years and he felt blessed with the acceptance of her family. Being a father and grandfather to them made him very proud.
Another joy in Bob's life was his family at Northwest Hills Church. They provided comfort and motivated Bob to carry on life after the passing of his beloved wife, Baby.
Bob sought great joy in meeting Kaetlin Pope after many years of prayers, he felt the Lord listened to his prayers and saved her. Kaetlin's mother Kelly followed his heart and together adopted each other. A joyous blessing that Kelly became his daughter in Christ.
Bob was blessed with a beloved Angel Rebekah Dominguez whom also brought much joy to his life. His love and presence will be missed dearly.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Wednesday July 12, 2017 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Service will continue on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church, 7575 Tezel, with an 11:00 a.m. Celebration of Life.
