Born on November 27, 1930 in San Antonio to Albert and Leonie Hoffmann, he grew up on a farm off Evans Road near Selma, TX. He was a 1947 graduate of Brackenridge High School, and attended Trinity University.
He served his country in the United States Air Force at Lackland AFB from 1950-54, where he taught classroom and field training which included teargas chambers and night maneuvers.
Robert earned a BBA from St. Mary's in 1956. Throughout his lifetime he worked at many types of jobs and touched many lives, including Sears, X-Ray Delivery and Repair, Montgomery Ward management, Handy Andy (where he was a store manager from 1959-1980), and Texas Farm Bureau Insurance for 11 years. Retirement jobs included Brackenridge Eagle Miniature Train engineer and Gunn Honda shuttle van driver.
His church activities included serving for Community United Church of Christ Council for 12 years, 10 of them as Council President. He also served on the board at Eden Home in New Braunfels. He later transferred his membership to Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church (HTPC).
Robert is survived by his first and only wife of 58 years, Barbara Ann Tate Hoffmann; daughters Holly Cochran and Tracy Jacobsen; and grandchildren Nichole Keiser, Kyle Keiser, and Aaron Jacobsen. He also had many fond friendships with the "Green Team" of HTPC. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 15, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
