Robert Lane McGee

Robert Lane "Bobby" McGee, age 62 of San Antonio, TX passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 24, 2014 after a tough battle with cancer. Bobby was born in Danville, Illinois on April 2, 1952. He would say that he got to Texas as quick as he could.

On February 21, 1981 he married Laurie Driscoll and often said no one loved anyone as much as he loved her.

Bobby ran two successful businesses alongside his wife, "The Boss". Throughout the years he left his mark, either developing or demolishing most of San Antonio. He knew what hard work was and did so his whole life. He never met a person who wasn't a friend and was always willing to make a deal to help someone out.

Throughout the years, he left his mark for all those who had the pleasure to know him, he left an indelible impression. The love, support and prayers from so many friends during his battle with cancer overwhelmed Bobby and his family.

He wanted to leave everyone with the peace of knowing we would see him again one day in Heaven. He said "I know where I'm going, I know how to get there, but I'm just not sure when".

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Laurie E. McGee; two sons, Ryan McGee and wife, Sada and Rob McGee and wife, Maria; daughter, Paige Debner and her husband, Chris Debner; grandchildren, Ethan, Caleb, Savannah, Nick, Nate and Coy; his mother, Jo Ann Fetters; brothers, Curt McGee and wife, Ula, Stephen Hadley and wife, Denyse; many nieces, nephews, friends and his devoted dog and best friend, Junior.

Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Robert Owen McGee and step-fathers, David Hadley and Ken Fetters.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Porter Loring North.
