It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Nelson, a dedicated family man, tireless insurance salesman, and devout member of the LDS church. He departed this life on October 14, 2023, at the age of 74, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on July 7, 1949, Bob grew up understanding the value of hard work, commitment, and faith. These core principles were reflected throughout his life, as he built strong relationships both in his professional and personal spheres.
Bob's work ethic was unmatched. As an insurance salesman for over four decades, he wasn't just selling policies; he was ensuring the safety and security of families and individuals. Many remember Bob not just as their insurance agent, but as a friend who genuinely cared about their well-being, always ready with a reassuring word or piece of advice.
Deeply rooted in his faith, Bob was an active member of the LDS church. His dedication was evident in his service, whether as a mentor to young members or in his role in various church activities and missions. Bob's spirituality was a guiding light in his life, and he sought to share its warmth with all he met.
But above all, Bob was a family man. His love for his wife, children, and numerous grandchildren was boundless. Every family gathering, holiday, or simple Sunday dinner was made special with his presence, his laughter, and the stories he would share.
Bob was preceded in death his parents; his loving wife of 49 years, Wanda Nelson; and sister, Janet Nelson. He is survived by his sons, Robert Nelson Jr. and wife Rebekah and Raymond Alan Nelson and wife Gricela; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Kailey, Luke, Vanessa, and Jason; and sisters, Barbara Papuzzo and husband Pat and Diane Sexton and husband Alan. In addition to his family, Bob leaves behind a legacy of friendships, partnerships, and countless lives touched by his kindness, wisdom, and generosity.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 12:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 645 Knights Cross Dr, San Antonio, TX 78258. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Bob's light will continue to shine brightly in the countless lives he touched, and his memory will be cherished forever.
