Born on August 13, 1969, in San Antonio to Shirlene Roe and Clyde Nixon Jr., Robert grew up with a strong sense of loyalty, humor, and determination, qualities that stayed with him throughout his life. His love story with Kimberly began when she was just 13 years old, when a youthful connection first sparked between them. Life took them down different paths for many years, but the bond they shared never truly faded. In time, that same connection: steady, soulful, and impossible to forget, brought them back to one another. Robert married his soulmate, Kimberly A. Nixon (Payne), on April 30, 2011, in the beautiful Hill Country of San Antonio. Their marriage was a true partnership, a bond built on love, laughter, support, and an unwavering devotion that reflected the destiny they had always shared.
Robert graduated from MacArthur High School and went on to build a successful and respected career. He worked 20+ years as a warehouse manager for Don’s & Ben’s, where he became known for his work ethic, dedication, and ability to make anyone feel like a friend. In recent years, he found renewed purpose working with Railway Xpress, proudly driving and supporting railroad engineers and becoming a trusted part of their daily operations.
A gifted & passionate pool player from a very young age, Robert’s skills and sportsmanship earned him admiration and respect in the billiards community. Whether he was playing competitively or just enjoying a good game with friends, he carried the same quiet confidence and competitive spirit that so many loved about him. The pool table was his happy place, and those who played with him will always remember his natural talent and steady, focused presence.
Above all his accomplishments, Robert was most proud of the roles that defined his heart: being husband, a father and a son. His children were the center of his world, and he carried a deep, unwavering commitment to them throughout every stage of their lives. Robert had a way of showing up exactly when his kids needed him, whether with guidance, tough honesty, a helping hand, or one of his hugs that made everything feel steady again. He supported them fiercely, celebrated their achievements loudly, and loved them unconditionally. His presence gave them strength, and his legacy will continue to guide them with the same steady, quiet confidence he lived by.
Robert also held a special devotion to his mother, Shirlene. He looked after her with the same care and loyalty she had given him throughout his life. Their bond was rooted in respect, love, and a gentle protectiveness that reflected Robert’s true character. He was the person she could depend on without question, and he cherished the opportunity to be by her side, support her, and honor her as she had always honored him.
Robert’s love for his family was not something he simply felt, it was something he lived, every single day. His wife, children and his mother always knew they were safe, supported, and deeply loved. That is the kind of legacy that lasts forever.
Robert is survived by the people he cherished most: his loving wife, Kimberly; his children Joshua (and Helen), Samantha, Savannah, Kory, Michael, and Olivia; his brother John Meredith and sister Tammy Meredith; and his parents Clyde Nixon Jr. and Shirlene Hernandez (Roe). He was a proud grandfather to Mackenzie, Joseph, and Malakai, each of whom brought light and joy to his life. Robert also leaves behind a large circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss him dearly.
Honoring Robert as pallbearers will be Joshua Nixon, Samantha Nixon, Savannah Nixon, Kory Lowrey, Michael Nixon, and John Meredith.
The immediate family of Robert Nixon wishes to express our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming love, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time. Robert never took a single friendship for granted, and we know he would be deeply appreciative of every prayer, message, and embrace.
