Robert was an avid athlete growing up, and graduated from Memphis State College in 1954, where he entered active military service in the United States Air Force. He married his college sweetheart, Betty Byrum, on July 30, 1955.
Robert served the Air Force faithfully for 30 years, until his retirement as a colonel in 1983.
He leaves behind his wife, Betty; his daughter Candy and her husband Rick, and his grandson Chase; his son Paul and wife Deborah; and his sister Emily Taylor and husband Gene.
The family will receive friends at a memorial visitation on Wednesday, December 10, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
